• Implementation of a policy on the handling of allegations of research misconduct for research funded by the U.S. Public Health Service
The purpose of organization memo 0148 is the implementation of a policy and procedures at the Institut Pasteur for dealing with allegations of research misconduct, in line with the US federal regulations on research misconduct. This policy, which complements the Institut Pasteur's Charter for Research Integrity, applies exclusively to research that has received funding from the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS), especially the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and applications for grants from these bodies.
The Institut Pasteur's research misconduct policy provides a detailed framework for the procedures that should be applied to handle claims of research misconduct related to PHS-funded research or funding applications. Any allegations of research misconduct must be reported to the Institut Pasteur's Research Integrity Officer (RIS), whose role is to examine and process cases in accordance with the procedures set out in the policy.
The United States Office of Research Integrity is informed at various stages of the process and notified of the final decision confirming or denying the detection of research misconduct.
The policy, together with the procedures for handling allegations of research misconduct and a diagram illustrating the entire process, is accessible online on the Grants Office page of the ePasteur intranet.
