Vigipirate national security alert system and campus access – news from the Security Department
On June 22, the French Prime Minister decided to lower the Vigipirate national security alert system to level 2, "Heightened security."
What this changes for the Institut Pasteur and its staff
Circulation of vehicles on the main Institut Pasteur campus
As from August 31, 2026, vehicles entering campus must use the 28 rue du docteur Roux entrance, from 7am to 9pm. From 12 noon to 2pm and from 7 to 9pm, there will be two-way traffic and vehicles will exit campus using the same access point.
From 7am to 12 noon and from 2 to 7pm, motorized vehicles will exit campus via the exit at 26 rue du docteur Roux. During these times, vehicle traffic on campus will be one-way, between building 6 (Social) and building 3 (Duclaux, Fourneau wing).
Bicycles and personal transporters (like electric scooters, unicycles and Segways) can exit via number 26 or number 28.
There are no changes to traffic at 25 rue du docteur Roux.

Vigipirate national security alert system
The new version of the Vigipirate system, currently set at level 2, is aimed at better informing citizens about terrorism, the mechanisms adopted to tackle it, and how adopting appropriate steps and behavior can protect and save lives.
With the system at level 2, all staff are encouraged to remain vigilant, immediately report any suspicious behavior or items, strictly comply with access control guidelines, not allow unauthorized people to enter campus, make sure their badge is visible at all times, and follow the instructions of safety officers in the event of an incident.
There are no changes to campus access for pedestrians. Visual bag checks will continue to be applied for non-staff members.
We would remind you that your badge is for your personal use only – it should never be used by anyone else, and you should wear it so that it is visible as soon as you enter campus.
The different Vigipirate levels are as follows:
