Marc Levy is delighted to invite you to the launch event for his new novel, Les évadées, published by Robert Laffont / Versilio, on Monday September 21, 2026. This unique event will take place on the Institut Pasteur campus, in the Émile Duclaux lecture hall, at 6:30pm.
First volume of a two-part series, this new book takes readers to the four corners of the globe – from Lyon to Paris, Boston and Singapore – and tells the story of twin sisters whom life has separated, yet who are united in a common cause: the defence of freedom against obscurantism and radicalisation.
Billed as a ‘warning novel’, this new book has its roots on campus, as one of the heroines is a scientist based at the Institut Pasteur. To bring this character to life, highlight the challenges facing research and shed light on the dangers science faces, Marc Levy worked with several researchers on campus. These discussions, which lasted several months, helped guide the author’s writing as he produced this first instalment in the series.
On September 21, come and discover the secrets behind the writing of a novel which, from Boston to Singapore, from American chaos to Asian mafias, takes readers on a journey around the world and draws them into the fate of two strong-willed sisters! Several Pasteurian researchers will be present to share the ideas that inspired the book and to discuss the threats facing scientific research.
The book will be on sale at the venue, and there will be a book-signing session following the round-table discussion.

Whilst Marc Levy is an author who needs no introduction, he is also deeply committed to the Pasteur Institute, particularly in connection with the Pasteurdon. Having supported previous editions, he will serve as ambassador for the 2026 edition of Pasteurdon to amplify the voices of researchers ever louder and further, and to defend science with fervour through his words and his novels. As the most widely read French writer in the world, he is also an ambassador for philanthropy, supporting numerous international initiatives, particularly in New York, where he lives with his wife and their two children.
